Major Responsibilities:
Planning Projects
- Defines the scope of projects in collaboration with senior management.
- Creates a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the projects.
- Determines the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the projects.
- Develops a schedule for projects’ completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
- Reviews projects’ schedules with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the projects’ activities; and revises the schedules as required.
- Determines the objectives and measures upon which the projects will be evaluated at their completion.
Implementing Projects
- Executes projects according to projects’ plans.
- Records and documents projects’ activities.
- Sets up files to ensure that all projects’ information are appropriately documented and secured.
- Monitors the progress of projects and makes adjustments as necessary to ensure their successful completion.
- Establishes a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the projects.
- Reviews the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
Controlling Projects
- Writes reports on projects for management and for funders.
- Communicates with funders as outlined in funding agreements.
- Monitors cash flow projections and reports actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly/bimonthly).
- Evaluates projects.
- Ensures that projects’ deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality.
- Evaluates the outcomes of projects as established during the planning phase.
Job Requirements:
Academic Qualification
- University Degree in Engineering, Sciences, Business Administration, Social Sciences or any other related field.
Professional Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, at the national and international levels, in managing small-scale and medium-scale projects.
- Previous experience in a supervisory/managerial post is required.
- Experience in report writing.
- Experience in Non-Governmental Organizations is preferable.
Skills
- Spoken and written fluency in English and Arabic. (French is a plus)
- Excellent writing skills.
- Highly organized.
- Capacity to work in teams and flexibility to take on new tasks.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills.
- Excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Dynamic leader with creative problem solving skills, particularly in challenging situations.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
